Spaceflight Academy Mobile Experience
Primary Roles: UX Designer
Nonprofit Organization: Museum of Flight
Tools Used: Adobe Creative Suite

In 2014 I was given the role of leading the design of the Museum of Flight's first interactive mobile experience to be used within an exhibit. This web app supplemented the Museum's newest, and most innovative to date, permanent exhibit called Spaceflight Academy. The Spaceflight Academy web app is a quiz game that asks visitors questions about spaceflight science that they can find the answers to throughout the exhibit.
My main contributions for this project were the following:
-
Created 8 low fidelity wireframes to communicate overall concept to the developers
-
Designed 30 primary high fidelity mock ups plus 60 variants for desktop viewing and mobile viewing respectively
-
Designed quiz questions with a focus on middle schoolers as the primary audience but still made it enjoyable and educational for older visitors with little to no knowledge of spaceflight science
-
Designed a customizable mission patch as a reward for completing the game
-
Was the main point of contact for the design and development phases of the project
-
Continuously communicated with the developers to make sure the design was accurately reflected in the prototypes and final product
-
Created printed signage and marketing graphics to promote the web app on the museum floor and online
