2022 - Now

Senior UX Program Manager
Alexa App, Amazon

Managing the UX development and delivery of customer-facing features on the Alexa App:

  • Evaluating design requests from Product Managers and negotiating deadlines and priorities for UX Designers based on launch schedules and business goals.

  • Collaborating with Product Managers, Software Developers, and UX Designers to refine feature requirements and narrow down design options for leadership reviews.

  • Working with UX Designers and Engineering partners to get blocker design bugs fixed before launch and continuously pushing for remaining design bugs to be fixed post-launch.

  • Creating and improving mechanisms for the UX team's intakes, task management, design reviews, design documentation, and project status reporting with JIRA and Confluence.

2020 - 2022

UX Program Manager
Alexa Communications, Amazon

Managed the UX development of Alexa Communication features on the Alexa App and Amazon Echo devices:

  • Primary point of contact for UX, processing design requests and working closely with Product Managers and Engineering partners to proactively clarify requirements when there is ambiguity.

  • Created mechanisms for design reviews, documentation, status reporting, and filing intakes for designers and partner teams.

  • Communicated design delivery schedules and project status with design and product stakeholders on a weekly basis.

  • Anticipated bottlenecks, mitigating project risks, making tradeoffs, and balancing the business needs versus technical constraints.

  • Documented and maintained resources for onboarding new team members and educating partners on the UX design process.

2017 - 2020

UX Producer
Device Design Group, Amazon

  • ​​Oversee and coordinate intake requests for DDG’s Visual QA team, Design Technology Tools team, and UX Writing team using Agile methodologies including Kanban boards, daily/weekly check-ins, and sprint planning.

  • Work with the Visual QA team to promptly file visual bugs seen on all DDG devices before key software development deadlines to ensure the UX designs and UI copy shipped to device meet the quality bar for our customers.
  • Follow up with Engineering to resolve visual bugs and communicate status of Visual QA efforts to Design stakeholders; began sending a weekly bug report to the device UX program managers and executive leadership which caused 30% of the total number of bugs to become resolved.
  • Facilitate the Design Technology Tools team’s evaluation and development of new tools to improve collaboration, productivity, and efficiency across the studio.
  • Collaborate with UX designers, device UX program managers, and executive leadership to develop solutions that aim to bridge internal and cross-functional gaps in process.

2015 - 2017

UX Production Designer
Device Design Group, Amazon

  • Collaborated with UX Visual Designers to produce and deliver redlines and assets for the development of multiple Android and iOS mobile app features with competing deadlines in an Agile environment.

  • Followed up with the Engineers and resolved any issues that came up during the implementation of the redlines.

  • Filed tickets to address visual bugs seen on device after implementation and worked with Engineers to get the bugs fixed.

  • Restructured and redesigned the team’s internal website to document intake processes, resources, current projects, and schedules.

2014-2015

Assistant Graphic Designer

Museum of Flight

  • Assisted with the maintenance of exhibit graphics and created new designs for upcoming exhibits throughout the Museum.

  • Balanced the fulfillment of multiple design requests and projects with various deadlines and different internal clients.

  • Led the design and coordination of the Museum’s first mobile web app to be used within an exhibit.

  • Designed low-fidelity wireframes and high-fidelity mockups in Adobe Photoshop.

  • Was the main point of contact with the out-of-state developers throughout the implementation of the web app.

2013

Human Factors Engineering Intern

Physio-Control, Inc.

  • Designed an “out-of-box experience” for the company’s next-generation layuser defibrillator with the goals of creating a consistent user experience throughout the setup process and reducing company costs.

  • Created physical prototypes of two packaging designs and three Getting Started guide designs.

  • Conducted usability evaluations of the designs with 17 target users.

  • Made recommendations for a baseline design that would save the company at least $75,000/year.
